INOVACEL mission is to transform the production of alternative proteins by creating a microalgae-based serum to replace animal serum in cell culture media, establishing fish and marine invertebrate cell lines, and promoting a circular economy that integrates microalgae production with cellular aquaculture.
This groundbreaking project, led by Necton in collaboration with S2AQUAcoLAB, GreenCoLab, and CCMAR, is funded by the Algarve 2030 Program with support from the European Union.
With a duration of three years and a €1.3 million budget, INOVACEL aims to position the Algarve as a hub of excellence in sustainable and cellular Aquaculture.
