The IBAB Culture Collection was established in early 2020 to safeguard important strains of our partner companies.
The GreenLytics Plataform unlocks the potential inside of algae, creating strong bridges between academia, industry, and stakeholders in the biotechnology algal field. Algae chemistry characterization is provided, and chemical aspects are revealed, highlighting their value in areas such as nutraceuticals, food, animal feed, and others.
Chemistry Platform is a multidisciplinary team with expertise in analytical biochemistry and algal biotechnology, offering accurate analytical services. ISO 17025-aligned labs provide proximate and complex analyses, detecting high-value compounds and pigments, plus amino acids, vitamins, fatty acids, sugars, minerals and metals.
The team offers consultancy in algal biotechnology analytics, implementing, optimizing and statistically validating new methodologies. We assess linearity, limits, accuracy, precision and stability, and provide technique training and workshops backed by years of expertise.
We provide cross-disciplinary biochemical technical support for preparing research proposals within GCL and work transversely along their lifecycles. Our team also assists with chemistry issues and desired biochemical assays outside GCL, offering expert researchers for project development and follow-up.
The Chemistry Platform provides cutting-edge analytical expertise to assess the value of algae
The Chemistry Platform team is led by Sara Ferreira with Vítor Spínola, Maria Lourenço and Monya Costa. Sara, a biotech engineer with 20+ years in R&D and QC, manages the platform. Vítor is a PhD chemist in bioactives. Maria is a biotech MSc technician, and Monya, a Marine Sciences PhD, manages services.
Each culture is maintained in several growth conditions, from cryopreservation, letargic growth on solid an liquid medium on lower temperatures to small bubbling reactors on optimal light and medium conditions. Ensuring the industrial availability for scaling up.
